BULK BEADS AND PREFILLED KITS

Bead beating is quickly becoming teh preferred process used to break up (lyse) samples in order to release the DNA, RNA and proteins contained within cells. Samples are placed in tubes with the appropriate grinding beads and subjected to high energy mixing. The beads impact the sample, eventually breaking it down on the cellular level releasing subcellular contents.

A variety of prefilled tubes are available for homogenizing samples including those with stainless steel, glass and Triple-Pure™ zirconium beads. All three bead types are acid washed and processed to remove nucleases and proteases. The Triple-Pure bead tubes undergo special handling during filling and are quality tested to ensure the elimination of DNase, RNase, protease, and nucleic acids. When samples are used for molecular biology applications, the high purity of the Triple-Pure beads is preferred.

While glass (silica), zirconium and stainless steel beads are all effective at disrupting cells and tissues. The added density of zirconium and stainless steel beads helps to yield better homogenized samples.

BEADBUG™ 6 POSITION BEAD HOMOGENIZER

The BeadBug™ is a high energy benchtop homogenizer that sets the performance standard for personal sized cell disruption and lysis instruments.

Simultaneous homogenization of up to 6 samples takes place (often within 45 seconds) inside the disposable 2ml screw cap microtubes. The optimized mixing motion causes rapid cell disruption through constant high velocity impact from the hardened micro-beads chosen specifically
for your sample type.

Developed for samples too tough to be homogenized in a common lab vortexer, the BeadBug provides a convenient and economical alternative to the traditional, over-priced homogenizers on the market today. With up to three tube capacity and a foot print of just 9 x 14″, the BeadBug is the ideal homogenizing instrument for low to medium throughput laboratories.

  • Extremely powerful mixing for lysis, grinding or homogenization
  • Faster and more effective than tissue grinders
  • Mix 6 tubes simultaneously
  • Extremely compact, less than 9″ wide
  • Eliminates the cross contamination associated with hand held homogenizers
