Monitor for the WaterWatch² Range

The 7300w² Monitor is the core product in the WaterWatch² range. The monitor is designed to interface with all of the sensors in the WaterWatch² range. The monitor specification provides all the connections required for 1 or 2 sensors, systems can be created by the use of expansion boxes to include multiple sensors. The maximum number of sensors will be limited by the practicalities of most sites. We anticipate 8 being a sensible maximum although many more can be accommodated.

The 7300w² contains an inbuilt trending display, customer configurable, that shows the last 24 hours data for any measurement point on an easy to navigate graph. This can also be downloaded for reporting purposes. An external USB port and data logging function allows users to log and retrieve all stored data for a site in a standard .csv format without the need for specialist SD cards or compatible hardware.

Combining sensors provides a very cost effective way of simultaneously monitoring parameters such as dissolved oxygen and suspended solids in an activated sludge plant, or pH and turbidity at a treatment works outfall where the sensors can be located close together.

TurbiTechw2 LA Suspended Solids Sensor

The TurbiTechw² LA Sensor has been designed for use in aeration systems monitoring suspended solids also known as mixed liquor suspended solids or activated sludge where solids are typically in the range of 1,500 to 3,500 mg/l. The sensor can also measure Returned Activated Sludge (RAS), Surplus Activated Sludge (SAS) and suspended solids or turbidity.

The large optical surface and sample volume combine to ensure that the sensor is providing information that is reliable and representative of the solids present in the process. Deposits of fats and grease on the sensing area do not prevent the sensor from measuring unlike sensors with small optical surfaces. In addition, the sensor incorporates a self cleaning mechanism that ensures the optical surfaces are kept clean at all times, the cleaning system is designed to avoid problems with ragging and does not smear the optical system.

Self Cleaning Sensor for Suspended Solids and Turbidity Monitoring

The TurbiTechw² LS Sensor is designed to monitor the levels of suspended solids or turbidity typically found in final effluent from municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. It is also great at monitoring solids in the intake to both effluent and drinking water treatment processes.

Monitoring of these key parameters requires sensors that are reliable and accurate, the TurbiTechw² LS meets this requirement perfectly. The large optical surfaces and sample volume ensure that the information provided by the sensor is both representative of the process and tolerant of fouling. In addition, the sensor incorporates a self cleaning mechanism that ensures that the optical surfaces are kept clean at all times, the cleaning system is designed to avoid problems with ragging and does not smear the optical system.

The TurbiTechw² LS Sensor employs infrared light at 860 nm using the 90º Light Scatter principle in accordance with ISO7027 (2000). The cleaning process is automatically initiated by the 7300w² Monitor at a user determined frequency. The cleaning process takes only 90 seconds, which means that the sensor is available for 99.5% of the time with a 6 hourly cleaning cycle.

Self Cleaning Sensor for Suspended Solids and Turbidity Monitoring

The TurbiTechw² HR Sensor has been specifically designed for use in wastewater treatment systems where high levels of suspended solids are desirable in the aeration phase. Membrane Bio Reactors (MBR) typically run with MLSS values in the region of 8,000 to 14,000 mg/l. High MLSS concentrations promote numerous process benefits, including stable operation, complete nitrification, and reduced biosolids production reducing biological volume requirements (and associated footprint) to only 20-30 percent of conventional biological processes.

The TurbiTechw² HR sensor is suitable for monitoring solids in higher ranges than the standard LA version of the sensor due to it’s shorter path length.

In addition the sensor incorporates a self cleaning mechanism that ensures the optical surfaces are kept clean at all times, the cleaning system is designed to avoid problems with ragging and does not smear the optical system. The cleaning system ensures that manual intervention on a routine basis is not required, the sensor should simply be checked as part of general site housekeeping. The large optical surface and sample volume combine to ensure that the sensor is providing information that is reliable and representative of the solids present in the process. Deposits of fats and grease on the sensing area do not prevent the sensor from measuring unlike sensors with small optical surfaces

The TurbiTechw² HR Sensor uses infrared light at 860 nm and operates using the Light Attenuation Principle. The cleaning mechanism uses a polyurethane wiper seal, sealed by 2 Nitrile ‘H’ Rings that finish the cleaning process. The Nitrile seals can be exchanged for Viton if the process media dictates. The cleaning process is automatically initiated by the 7300w² Monitor at a user determined frequency. The cleaning process takes only 90 seconds, which means that the sensor is available for 99.5% of the time with a 6 hourly cleaning cycle.

Building on the success of the TurbiTechw² LR sensor and by continually striving to improve and expand our product range Partech is proud to introduce the new TurbiTechw² D-ISO sensor. The D-ISO is a natural evolution in terms of development and offers our customers an improved user experience in all areas.

The TurbiTechw² D-ISO was developed using valuable feedback from existing customers and incorporates that feedback into its use and function.

Uses 40 years of sensor design to produce a new sensor that captures stray light to ensure a stable zero point.

A new automatic self cleaning mechanism that prevents the build up of fouling in and around the chamber making this the benchmark for low range turbidity.

It’s an extremely sensitive sensor can detect changes in Turbidity of less than 0.01 FTU. It’s global standard of light scatter technique makes the sensor sensitive to a wider range of particle sizes.

The sensor requires very little maintenance, with no tools or training required. Calibration can be carried out against either a wet Turbidity standard or using the dry calibration reference cell that is supplied with every sensor. The reference cell provides an extremely easy, repeatable method of checking the performance of the sensor, without the cost and inherent errors associated with chemical standards.

ColTechw2 Colour Sensor

Self Cleaning Sensor for Apparent Monitoring

The ColTechw² Sensor has been specifically designed to monitor Apparent Colour in applications where a broad indication of the colour of the water is required. The self cleaning sensor is ideal for monitoring at the intake stage of drinking water processing, allowing automatic coagulant control with no need for a complex analyser.

Organic materials such as Humic Acid or metals like Iron and Manganese dissolved in water will appear as an unacceptable yellow tinge. If discoloured water is allowed to enter the water supply network customers will quickly become aware of the problem.

The sensor requires very little maintenance, with no special tools or training required. Calibration can be carried out against either a wet standard or using a reference standard.

SoliTechw2 IL Suspended Solids and Sludge Density Sensor

The SoliTechw² IL sensor provides reliable and repeatable, continuous in-line measurement of sludge density, suspended solids and turbidity.  The optical element has a sapphire window, this offers excellent resistance to fouling and damage caused by the abrasion from flow particles.

The sensor is suitable for a variety of applications including the auto de-sludging of primary and final settlement tanks, and reliable sludge density measurement ensures that downstream treatment processes can operate at their optimum level.

The sensor is installed through a mounting boss onto any pipeline that is larger than 65 mm diameter. The sensing element is positioned flush with the inside wall of the pipe, ensuring that the optical surface is kept clean by the flow passing the sensor and making sure the sensor does not cause an obstruction to the flow.

Floating Oil on Water Sensor

Contamination of water courses by visible oil is a problem that requires fast, reliable detection to prevent damage to either the local environment or a water treatment process. If oil is allowed to enter a river then wildlife can be harmed, if the oil then enters a drinking water plant, damage can be caused to the processing system or more critically the quality of the drinking water can be affected.

Early warning of a problem allows remedial action to be taken either by automatically shutting down the intake to a process or by raising an alarm calling for manual intervention. The 7300w² monitor can also be connected to pollution prevention equipment such as oil dispersants or oil absorbing mops, booms, and skimmers.

The OilTechw² sensor can be deployed in any application where the surface of the water is relatively calm, the system will react rapidly to both partial and complete films of oil on the water surface. The measuring system is highly stable and only needs occasional validation to ensure reliable operation.

The unsinkable floating sensor has a dual hull designed to channel any oil passing through the centre of the float so that it is presented to the detector. The non-contact infrared sensor emits light that is reflected from the water surface, any oil that is present increases the amount of light reflected and this is then converted into the desired output signals. The float is supplied with two fixing cables and a weight to keep it stationary and correctly orientated.

Temperature Sensor

The WaterTechw² TMP Temperature Sensor is a precision device which offers breakthrough performance over a wide industrial temperature range. Designed for use between -10°C and +80°C with a measurement accuracy of +/- 0.3°C. The internal temperature sensor has a high accuracy and linearity over the entire rated temperature range, without the need for correction or calibration by the user.

Temperature measurement in waste water applications provides an important supplement to measurements such as pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Suspended Solids and Turbidity. In Activated Sludge, temperature can be related to the ability of the biological treatment system to cope with varying loads. In Final Effluent many discharge consents are waived when the temperature reaches a low level of around 4°C and by using a verifiable temperature measurement device such as the WaterTechw² TMP the operator can avoid issues with regulators.
 

Overview

The detector within the TMP sensor consists of a metal heat conducting cylinder containing, an internal band gap reference, a temperature sensor and a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter. The result is a robust, accurate, easy to use and stable ultra low temperature drift measurement.The detector tip is incorporated into a black acetal housing.

The TMP sensor has been factory calibrated, no further calibration is required. The TMP sensor requires very little maintenance, no special tools or training is required and installation is quick and simple.

WaterWatch2 Expansion Boxes

The WaterWatch² range incorporates a wide range of sensors; these can be combined using the 7300w² monitor to provide cost effective, highly flexible, fully featured monitoring and control solutions. This degree of flexibility means that a large number of terminals and outputs need to be accommodated. Our expansion box range makes this possible.

Potential applications include monitoring dissolved oxygen on multiple aeration lanes and combining turbidity and pH in final effluent. Whenever a sensor name includes w² it is suitable for use with any other part of the WaterWatch² range.
